All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

Image
Violet Markey is the popular girl in school. Although she has just lost her older sister, Eleanor, in a car accident. They were both in the car when it ran over a bridge, but Violet's the only one who survived. She feels both sad and guilty - as anyone would.  Theodore Finch is called the freak of the school. He has two close friends, Charlie and Brenda. Finch, as he is called, is humorous and jokes around a lot. But he is still very serious and he reads a lot about suicide. Once in a while, Finch goes through some really dark times where he isn't able to do much.  One day, Violet and Finch meet at their school's bell tower. One of them wants to jump off, but the other stops the person from doing it. Rumors start spreading around school about a hero. Soon a  new friendship starts. This book was great. It was even amazing. I loved Finch's character although he was depressing and it made me sad to read the parts about him. The thing with Finch is.. that he is s...

Set in the late 90's and the beginning of the new Millennium, computers and the internet is not something everyone's quite familiar with. 28-year-old Lincoln is hired as the new IT guy at a newspaper called  The Courier . What he's doing is wrong, but there's one thing holding him back from quitting his job. Since Lincoln started working at the newspaper, he has been enjoying reading the email-exchange between the friends Beth and Jennifer. Lincoln continues his work, although it's boring, and nothing much happens in his life. Everyone in Lincoln's social ...

Becoming Alpha (Alpha Girl #1) by Aileen Erin

Image
Tessa McCaide is unlike others. She has a special talent which has always been a big struggle. Especially in her social life. She has a hard time finding friends since everyone thinks she is a freak. Tessa has a chance to start over when her fathers gets a new job in a different state. Although at a party, Tessa is bitten and her life forever changes.  To me, the main character Tessa, has the same personality as any other main character in a fan-fiction. She likes books, she's lonely, she has a special person in her life and she has a secret. This novel did seem like fan-fiction to me. The writing style reflected it. Tessa is humorous. Although her jokes seemed extremely cliché to me and therefore I mostly just rolled my eyes at them. Tessa McCaide was nothing special to me. She didn't seem real and I had a hard time relating to her.  Tessa's new group of friends seemed loyal, but not realistic either. If you take Meredith, Tessa's new BFF, she's just t...

The Girl with All the Gifts by M. R. Carey

Melanie lives in a cell. Every morning starts the same. After getting dressed, soldiers step into her cell. One holds a gun pointed to her face while another straps her to a wheelchair with no chance of moving around. Depending on which day it is, Melanie is rolled into class with other children just like her. Melanie is happy to learn, but mostly when it's a Miss Justineau day. Justineau is kind and tells great stories. Everything about her is perfect and Melanie admires her.  The children don't know when they came to live in the cells. They don't know anything about their past or what they are. But they are something special and have a purpose. They could be the answer to make the world great again.  First off, I'm a bit disappointed with this novel. It was not like anything I had expected. Then again, I had no clue what the novel was about when I picked it up. At first, I was very intrigued. I thought: "This is going to be such a great book. " Then...

INSURGENT by Veronica Roth

Image
I finally came around to read Insurgent . At first I wasn't all that amazed by the book because I had already watched the movie (which I can't even remember now). Although it did excite me and I've always been captured by the love between Tris and Tobias. I think they're so cute together and in this book so much drama happens between them. Their love is really tested and oh my heart.. I honestly felt like my heart was torn in peaces at some points. But how about I start out with a short summary:  "Divergent" ended on a train with Tris, Tobias, Marcus (Tobias' psycho dad), Peter (Tris' enemy) and Caleb (Tris' brother) heading towards the Amity headquarters. Here they stayed for some time, but rules were set out for them. Since Amity is all about keeping the peace, they could not start any conflicts. - or else they would be thrown out. As we know, the Dauntless are very loud and not afraid to start conflicts. What's bad is the fact that Pe...

After #1 by Amanda Todd (spoilers)

I've told myself time and again that I need to start blogging in English. That's what I'm doing now. This is my first blog-post in English. I really hope you enjoy it: Tessa Young is a sweet and well-behaved girl. She does well in school and she has a loyal boyfriend. In addition, she got into one of the best colleges out there. Actually it's the college her mother has always wanted her to go to. There's never been a doubt that she had to go to Washington State University. Tessa, being the great daughter she is, chose to please her mother. As Tessa begins in college, she meets people who are far different than her. Steph, her roommate, has piercings and tattoos, which is a bit frightening, but the two girls quickly get along. College is just as expected until Tessa meets Hardin Scott. The man who took her by surprise and led Tessa to realise who she truly was. However, things are never like they seem. Tessa goes through lots of hardship, especially with Hardi...

The Selection #3 - Den eneste ene (ingen spoilers)

Selvom mr. Lockwood i...
