Harry Potter & the Philosopher's Stone by J. K. Rowling
Almost all his life, Harry Potter has lived with the Dursleys who have made his life difficult. Harry's room is a small closet space underneath the stairs. He only wears his cousin Dudley's oversized hand-me-downs, and Harry is constantly bullied by the Dursleys, especially by Dudley. Then, on his 11th birthday, he finds out that he is a wizard and that he has been accepted into Hogwarts - one of the most famous schools for witchcraft. A whole new world and life start for Harry as he learns that he is one of the most famous people in the world of magic.
I really like Harry Potter as a character. I felt so bad for him and everything he has gone through - his life with the Dursleys and never knowing about his parents. It was great getting to know him better and seeing how his life changed when he got to Hogwarts. He really deserved everything that came with him being a wizard. Especially his friendships. I was so touched by the trio; Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Especially in the end when Ron and Hermione stick by Harry and fight alongside him.
While I was reading the book, scenes from the movie kept popping up. I really do think that the adaptation of the first book is great. I would not say that I am a fan yet.. but I think that will change once I read the other books. I have them all ready on my bookshelf! To make some kind of conclusion, I will say that the magical world of Harry Potter is fascinating and interesting. I get the hype. I especially love the friendship between Harry, Ron and Hermione. Oh, and Dumbledore is such a wise old man. Hagrid was great too, so cute. I gave this first installment four stars. It was enjoyable, fun, and entertaining!
