The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Starting off, I must say that I wholeheartedly enjoyed reading this novel. It was filled with so much humour, love and sarcasm. Such an amazing and fast-paced read! And oh how cute it was! I honestly felt the love that was expressed in this novel deep within my own heart. "The Hating Game" is Sally Thorne's first novel, and I am overwhelmed with love and praise for it.
Lucy Hutton works as an assistant to one of the CEO's of the publishing house Garmin and Bexley. She happens to share an office with her enemy, Josh Templeman. The two of them have fought since day one. The intensity of their hate for each other is only reinforced when a new and greater job position is offered. Both Lucy and Josh want the job which would mean that one of them would become the other one's boss. And so the Hating Game continues with greater force than ever.
My summary makes it seem like there's nothing but hate between Lucy and Josh. In reality, there's so much more. Often hate can turn into love. And maybe Lucy has loved Josh all along, but she finds it difficult to admit to herself.
It's hard not to spoil anything about this novel. The plot may seem so cliché, but it's so much more. The dynamic between Lucy and Josh is unheard of. They have incredible chemistry and you cannot help but laugh at the remarks they give each other. Soon the novel takes an entirely different turn. Cute and heartfelt incidents occur which make you want to read even more. Personally, I found it hard to put the book down.
"The Hating Game" is a story for romantics. It will not disappoint you, only encourage you to love rather than hate people. Although "The Hating Game" is not only a story about love, but also a story about acceptance and forgiveness. We all deserve to be loved, no matter what we choose to do with our lives. I believe that that is what Sally Thorne intends to tell her readers.
